Now the Mexican Government always holds the City Flower Festival in summer or autumn. On that day, one of the busiest streets, Paseo de la Reforma will be dressed with different kinds of flowers. The road and city are immersed in a sea of flowers. Thousands of flower planters gathered from across the country to show their flowers here. People from all over the world come here to look at or buy flowers. Mexico has a rich variety of flowers, especially of cactus. I used to see a young flower planter showing more than 150 kinds of cactus. The land of Mexico is acidic and that is very suitable for planting cactus. There are 854 kinds of cactus growing in Mexico and 50% of them are peculiar to Mexico. Walking in Mexico at this festival is like walking through a forest of flowers.
Some that are new to Mexico festivities are under the belief that the City Flower Festival is a new type of festival, yet it is a festival that has been around for over a hundred years. Like many of the other festivals that take place in Mexico City the event is filled with singing and dancing. There never seems to be any end to the excitement that is ongoing in Mexico City. This is what makes it such a famous hot spot tourists. Like myself many of the tourists that go there will tell you that they have had several trips to Mexico City and are planning more for the future. Mexico City has gained such notoriety for their festivals that many people plan their vacations around these times. The flower festival is such a great one to attend because the vast array of flowers enhance the light hearted mood. Mexico City is truly a city that has it all when it comes to entertainment.
