Its always nice when one is on vacation to go to all the well known tourist attractions. In Mexico City, though almost every part of this wonderful place provides great enjoyment for the tourist. I don't think there is anything in Mexico City that I have not enjoyed participating in. One of my favorite areas to hang out when I am not doing something specific is La Condesa. This is a small area on the west side of the Avenida Insurgentes. Although one may not believe it today this was once a very posh location in Mexico City. This city once had a cinema "golden age" and this where all the Mexican renowned movie stars would reside. This is going back to the 1940's-50's. One of the most famed hangouts at that time was the first ever apartment building to be erected in Mexico City known then as the Bauhaus type.
Unfortunately, due to the 1985 earthquake much of this area was devastated and virtually abandoned as a result of this. During the 1990‘s, though it came alive again when many artists and musicians began to reside there. Now today it's a place where one can go to enjoy fine cuisine, sit and have a drink with friends and just plain hang out. There is a great open-air amphitheatre to enjoy and it's an all around most pleasant place to spend a day or evening here. I found it to be the perfect location to just go and catch my breath after having done so much sight seeing. Now it's automatically added to my list of places to go on my return visits.
