On 16th September of each year is the Mexico Independence Day. It is to retain memories of the war of independence in respect to the Spanish Colony. It is a very important festival in Mexico. Mexican people and government both attach importance to this day no less than the Christmas Day.
Each year on this day, the Mexican government will hold a grand military parade to inspire their people with an ardent love of country. The marching team that participates in the parade will set out from the Constitution Square in the center of the town and parades along the Paseo de la Reforma. This road is the glory of the city. The marching team will also pass the Independence Monument of Mexico and at that time, thousands of Mexican people will come to the ceremony to see this parade.
This is not just an important event to the Mexican people but one that is attended with great respect by the many tourists that visit Mexico City at this time. In fact if you have had several visits to Mexico and have seen most of the special places, then your next trip should be planned around this very special event. The Mexicans view the fact that tourists want to participate in the viewing of this occasion with appreciation.
With this culture being as friendly and warm as they are it makes it most pleasant to be able to share in this most important time of celebration. In fact I personally try to make it back to Mexico City at least every second year for this event. I find not only the seriousness of the event to be most touching, but the festivity and exhilaration of the Mexican people is catching. It's difficult not to get caught up in the moment when attending this festival.
