Teotihuacán is an ancient site located in Mexico. It ruins are considered sacred and important by Mexicans. This holy city has massive size monuments in geometrical shapes and principles. The pyramid of the sun and the pyramid of the moon are important monuments that must not be missed at any cost. The pyramid of the sun which is the third largest in the world makes an awesome sight. It is worth climbing atop the 248 steps as the view from here is extraordinary and exhilarating. The Pyramid of moon is comparatively smaller. On its left side is the Quetzalpapaploti palace, there are also some small temple surrounding the pyramid of moon.
What remains today of this ancient and revered city are the sacrificial altars, the three pyramids and some grand houses which were covered with brilliant frescoes in the past. The entire city of Teotihuacán appears to have been arranged astronomically.
Teotihuacán is a great place to explore. The Museo Teotihuacán exhibits a glass floor over which enables the visitors to walk above the pyramid models. Recent digs include several tombs which include skeletons with necklaces of stimulated jawbones of humans are on display.
Visitors here can avail of the small trolley train that carries them from the entrance to various stops on this site; this includes the cultural center and the Teotihuacán museum. However, this train runs on weekends only and charges 60c per head.
Since there is plenty of climbing and walking to be done here at 7000 ft, altitude, go slow, carry sufficient drinking water and sun blocks. For snack and meals you can either have something at the restaurant near the new Museo Teotihuacán or buy something form the vendors as well. You will need a minimum of 4 hours to cover the entire areas and just 2 or 3 hours to cover just the important points.
