For those that find Palaces most intriguing then you cannot miss out on seeing the House of Tiles when in Mexico City, although really its a castle. What makes it a little different though at least from the outside is that it has been totally constructed with Tiles on three sides. These are exquisite and expensive tiles from the state of Puebla. Now actually the Palace has been turned into a Restaurant, which is owned by the Sanborns brothers.
Although most people find the exterior of this house, the most intriguing I was taken back with what is contained on the inside. Here one will find an abundance of mosaics. In fact, the main courtyard fountain is crowned with them. There is just no shortage of finery to be found here. For example, the railings themselves are made with copper.
There is no doubt that you are going to spend some time trying to determine the atmosphere of this locale. Is it Oriental or does it resemble that of the Moor’s? I have visited here several times and change my mind on each visit.
This is just one of the many intriguing places to visit when in Mexico City. You may wonder why so many of your friends return here several times. Part of the reason is because every time you go back you feel like it is your first time.
It’s important to plan some type of sight seeing schedule when you are going to vacation here. This way you will be sure to cover the main events while you are here. Then again, there are many that just go to Mexico City to relax and enjoy the upbeat spirit of the Mexican people. Not to mention of course the great nightlife. In any event, don’t miss out on seeing the House of Tiles, at least once on your trips to Mexico City.
