If you happen to be visiting Mexico City by way of boat then chances are you will end up at Xochimilco. It seems that almost every tourist that visits Mexico City is sure to put this on their one of their “sights to see” list. There are many reasons for wanting to visit here but one of the most significant is the beauty that is found in one of the many floating gardens that awaits you here. In fact, this is the hub of the city when it comes to Mexican flowers.
I thought that I had experienced just about everything that Mexico City had to offer but soon found out that I hadn’t. At least not until I extremely enjoyed a flat bottom boat ride as it glided amongst the floating flower gardens. I for one certainly can’t think of anything more romantic than this. Although located outside of the city it’s really not all that far. In fact its only 17 miles South of it.
Although much of Mexico has become modernized when one visits Xochimilco its like stepping back in time. This is what makes a vacation to Mexico City so well worthwhile. You can have the best of all worlds while there. You can enjoy the swinging almost never-ending nightlife. Then for a change of pace you can visit the ruins and take a trip back through history. There really are not too many places where one can vacation where they get all of this for such great value. I guess these are just some of the features that keep drawing me back to Mexico City time and time again.
Although it is difficult to decide on what things to see and do when in Mexico City, try not to miss out on a trip to Xochimilco. This is the one thing you would regret about your trip if you didn’t see it.
